Corals

from SORE by Tsinder Ash

lyrics

I will wear my defeat like a shroud
I will blend into the stone
let the sea wash over my grave
Cleanse the burden from these bones
Bells toll in the deep
For those who cannot sing
Chimes sound and swell yearns
for those who cannot return

Corals will collect on my outline
to mark the place where I fell
But I have been falling through
The depths so long
Do not mourn, do not dwell
Let my muscles give way to polyps
Teeth and skull to the stars
crustaceans crawl where sorrows fall
Over shipwrecks of my parts

Gardens will bloom out
of sinew
Out of the gloom will rise new
Sparks
Cover the sand with luminous sighs
To lighthouse the land through every
Dark
Unknown
Now there’s no fight left in these bones
no solace renewed by sun
I will gift an echo to the gales
to answer its cries
in the hope they guide me home

And I will wear my defeat like a crown
Carve my name into the stone
Let the sea wash over my grave
Cleanse the burden from these bones
And bells toll in the deep
For those who cannot sing
And chimes sound and swell yearns
For those
Who cannot return
